The Support Group
In late 2009, the Rare Kidney Stone Consortium (RKSC) became the newest member organization of the National Institutes of Health's Rare Diseases Clinical Research Network. Established to advance rare kidney stone disease research and knowledge, the RKSC focuses on four significant populations of rare-kidney stone formers. The APRT Deficiency subsection is led by Vidar Edvardsson, M.D., and Runolfur Palsson, M.D., both at the LandspÃtali University Hospital in Iceland.
To compliment the research goals of the RKSC and to provide a centralized home for the exchange of information, the APRT Deficiency Support Group was started in January 2011.
